What is an ACO?
ACO stands for Accountable Care Organization. ACOs are groups of doctors and other healthcare facilities like hospitals and clinics that come together voluntarily to provide coordinated healthcare to Medicare patients. By coordinating care across the health plan, it can help ensure that chronically ill patients get the necessary care at the right time, thus avoiding medical errors and unnecessary duplicate services.
